The president of China visits Gran Canaria
Xi Jinping has made a stopover on the island after his tour of South America. He took this opportunity to meet the vice president of the government, Soraya Saénz de Santamaría.
The president of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping, spent a few hours in Gran Canaria. After making a stopover on the island after a tour of South America, the head of state spent the night in the hotel Costa Meloneras, accompanied by a delegation of 180 people. The vice president of the Spanish government stayed in the same hotel.
Soraya Saénz de Santamaría, who met with the Chinese president for about 45 minutes, stated that the meeting had been cordial. The vice president believes that both States can work together thanks to the high prestige which Spanish companies enjoy in sectors like tourism, renewable energies and the digital agenda.
They also talked about the presence of both countries in South America and the European Union, committing themselves to mutual support. Finally, they made plans to re-establish mutual visits once the government is once again at full capacity.
