The Oasis Park zoo in Fuerteventura has bred some thirty Cuvier¿s gazelles in captivity and these will now be taken to Tunisia. The goal is to reintroduce this endangered species back into their natural habitat, the north of Africa. The island is the perfect place for this CSIC project, mainly because of its climate.

There are currently only 800 Cuvier¿s gazelles left in the world. But with projects such as these, the aim is to increase their population by around 30% by 2019.
