Tensions continue in the pact
President of the Island Council of Tenerife, Carlos Alonso, believes that the pacts must continue if they prove effective at resolving citizens¿ problems and not for ¿dividing things up¿

The President of the Island Council of Tenerife, Carlos Alonso, today sided with Canarian executive director Fernando Clavijo, after his controversial statements in which he affirmed that the socialists were part of the government pact in order to keep their salaries. He did not retract his words today, but stated that his interest lay in an agreement that will improve the poor state of the island¿s roads. Clavijo, for his part, said that these statements do not have to put a strain on the agreement with the PSOE.
