Civil Guard helicopter suffers an accident during a public show
When taking off, the aircraft collided with a mast and fell to the ground. No one was physically harmed. The government delegation is investigating the occurred. The Unified Association of Civil Guards believes it to have been an undue incident.
The accident occurred in the carpark of the Commander Headquarters of the Civil Guard of Las Palmas. The helicopter was scheduled to perform a landing show during the El Pillar celebrations. But the aircraft unexpectedly took off and its tail collided with a mast. No one was physically harmed but the occurrence caused a great fright that, according to the Unified Association of Civil Guards, should not have happened. The trade union has congratulated the aircraft crew for their skills but has questioned the place chosen for the landing and takeoff, claiming that not enough safety measures had been put in place.
The Government Delegation thinks that the technicians who chose the place for the show were sure that it was an appropriate venue. In any case, an investigation has opened to determine whether the accident was caused by human error or a gust of wind.
