Three years without pirate attacks in Somalian waters
The 86 crew members of the ship Relámpago set off from the Arsenal of Las Palmas in Gran Canaria as an escort vessel for the World Food Programme and to protect them from piracy.

86 people will sail for 4 months in the Indian Ocean on board the Relámpago ship as an escort for the World Food Programme to stop pirate attacks. Family members waved them off from the Military Arsenal in the knowledge that, with Christmas in between, they would not see them again until March, unless it was via a computer screen.
