Autumn begins at 15:00 on Thursday 22 September. But this change of season will barely be noticed in the Canary Islands, according to the forecasts from the State Meteorological Agency, who confirmed that temperatures experienced in the islands over the summer were higher than their average values. But what is especially worrying is the water deficit from last year. The most western islands and the south of Gran Canaria are registering merely 75% of their normal values, as confirmed by the director of AEMET in the archipelago.

During the month of June, double the number of tropical nights were registered than last year, that is, with temperatures higher than 25ºC. July was the fourth hottest month since 1980. And August was extremely dry, with temperatures higher than the average. The heat this year, however, did not cause as much haze as what it has done on other occasions.
