The events occurred on 28 April 2010. Six Spanish police officers were called to a park in Arrecife to break up a fight. Yari and Nelson Lemes were involved in this fight and they were arrested and taken to police station. It is there where the brothers claim the police officers carried out up to three assaults on them, allegations for which they will be on trial. However, the officers deny these allegations and accuse the brothers of having been the perpetrators of the assault. For which Yari and Nelson will also be on trial.
