Restoration of 19th Century angels in La Palma
With the restoration of two 19th century sculptures, the Restauración del Cabildo workshop in La Palma brings to an end lengthy work to return the main altarpiece to its original splendour in Santa Cruz de la Palma's El Salvador church.

Returning it to its original splendour entailed countless hours of work. It required up to seven layers of paint and retouching. "We've had to remove all these layers with the blade of a scalpel. Some layers came off more easily and others took a lot of work. While we were removing layers we saw wax stains, assemblies etc. " says Isabel Santos, a specialist from the Cabildo restoration workshop in La Palma.
