Collapse in Punta de Teno, Tenerife
Helicopters rescued 123 people after a section of the road that connects Punta de Teno with Buenavista del Norte collapsed in Tenerife. Bad weather made it impossible to evacuate the area by sea.

A day at the beach ended in an adventure that will be difficult to forget. 123 people were stranded on the coast with their vehicles when a section of the road leading to Punta de Teno collapsed http://tenerifeplayas.com/playas-ruta-santa-cruz-norte/playa-de-teno. After eight hours in the cold, without food and with a lot of fear and confusion, they were rescued by six helicopters that transferred them to Garachico. The wind and the bad sea conditions prevented evacuating them by boat. The island Council is urgently assessing how to recover the cars and repair the road.
