A five-minute bee hive
A neighbour alerts a vehicle owner about a bee hive that had formed in his bumper.
Lately, it seems that bees have been looking for fast accommodation in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. A few months ago, a car in the Los Giles neighbourhood was all of a sudden invaded by a swarm of bees and now, this afternoon, the same happened to a car in the Escaleritas neighbourhood. A neighbour who was smoking out the window of his house spotted a bee hive hidden in the bumper of a red ford.
He quickly alerted the vehicle owner who, in turn, reported it to emergency services. Once again it was a beekeeper who was called to remove the bees using a nucleus drawer, which he used to transfer the bees little by little. Even though the queen bee had been removed, the firemen advised the owner of the car to go for a walk to give the rest of the insects that were still in the back of his car time to go.
