Success of 'Isabel' at the 50th edition of MIPTV in Cannes
On Thursday 11th April, a new edition of MIPTV came to a close in Cannes. MIPTV is one of the most important markets in the audiovisual sector and this year marks its 50th anniversary. Televisión Española, as the main driver of this industry in Spain, has been present in each edition of MIPTV since its inception.
The historical series 'Isabel' has been one of the main subjects of TVE in the 50 edition of MIPTV 2013. Several Agreements have been reached to distribute this series in various countries.
Once again this year Televisión Española has showcased its latest productions in this trade fair with a special focus on fiction, documentary and children's series. Contacts have also been made for new international co-productions.
'Isabel' continues to be among the most popular fiction series in the international market. Broadcast agreements have now been made for the United Kingdom and Ireland.
This high-quality historical series will be broadcast to the public in Russia, Serbia and Croatia courtesy of MME and an agreement has also been reached to distribute it in France.
The story has also once again bridged the Atlantic divide and, on the American continent, both El Salvador and Uruguay will be able to tune in to the fast-paced tale of Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand in its first season. The series has likewise been acquired by CEETV for Colombia and Canal 22 for Mexico.
Aside from 'Isabel', other TVE productions are going international, such as the classical music programme for children, 'Pizzicato', which will soon be coming to China.
In France, the TV movie based on the kidnapping and subsequent liberation of Ingrid Bettancourt, 'Operación Jaque', will be coming soon to the small screen along with a documentary on the history of the Real Madrid.
Significantly, among international sales, 'Los Misterios de Laura' will be arriving in Russia, where viewers will be able to appreciate how Detective Laura's expertise solves even the most complicated cases.
Furthermore, within international channel sales, TVE and 24 Horas will now be among the channels on offer in several multichannel systems in Belgium, Turkey, Morocco and Lebanon, as well as in various hotel franchises throughout the world.
Canal 24 Horas will likewise be available on several large television platforms in France and Israel starting in June/July.
Once more, TVE's attendance at the international content and channel market has been a resounding success in terms of presence, meetings and business.
