RTVE presents its new Clan childrens channel at MIPCOM 2017

RTVE will take advantage of its presence at MIPCOM to present its new childrens channel, Clan, to the specialized media attending the market. Clan is the new childrens channel for the American continent that has begun to operate in the second quarter of this year and can already be seen in Colombia. With this new channel, RTVE also intends to strengthen the position of its three current international channels (TVE Internacional, 24 Horas and STAR HD).

RTVEs new childrens channel, which has been available in Colombia since June 30, is broadcast on the Movistar platform. It was born with the idea of bringing the best of the programming and values of Spains Clan channel to the Americas.

The aim of the new Clan channel is to meet the entertainment and education demands of children up to 12 years of age, paying special attention to both the preschool 2-4-year-old bracket and the 4-7-year-old bracket, who will be the targets for 80% of the schedule.

Clan programming for the Americas will include the best and most recent hits from Clan in Spain, including both in-house productions and co-productions with leading independent producers (approx. 80% of the total), as well as acquisitions of Spanish productions that fit the channels profile and criteria.

The channel will offer an entertaining, fun, participatory, educational and formative schedule. The programming philosophy places special emphasis on promoting certain values amongst children, such as friendship, respect for others, the defense of nature and the environment, cooperation and endeavor. At the same time, it aims to boost childrens imagination and creativity. This approach is similar to that of the Clan channel in Spain, seeking to create a safe environment where children can enjoy their favorite series, one that parents can trust for the integral education of their children.

Among the shows that make up the schedule we might mention The Lunnis,  an RTVE creation that enjoys a large audience on the Clan channel in Spain and has recently received one of the "Alegría de vivir 2017" Awards, in the category of Best TV Show, for its "positive spirit". The show was also recognized as the "Best CSR Project" in the audiovisual sector at the Fourth Social Enterprise Awards.

The channel also offers other series that enjoy a large audience amongst the youngest members of the family, such as Bat Pat, Four and a half friends, Pumpkin Reports, Big Band Clan, etc., or entertainment shows such as Cook with Clan.

With the idea of reinforcing the excellent positioning that RTVE enjoys in the pay TV sector, and strengthening its role as the leading Spanish media group around the world, RTVE has been expanding its channel catalog in recent years. In this sense, it offers a varied and high-quality catalog aimed at the whole family and which is made up of four channels: a general channel for entertainment and information (TVE Internacional), a news channel in Spanish (24 Horas), a channel devoted to Spanish fiction (STAR HD), and a channel aimed at the youngest members of the household (Clan).
