Today's program looks at the recent meeting of the G-7 most industrialized nations and the rift between the United States and its historical allies, the EU and Canada in particular, over the tariffs imposed on steel and aluminum imports, based on the Trump administration's allegations of "national defense." We then focus on the latest crisis on the Mediterranean, where the new, anti-immigration Interior Ministry in Italy and the Maltese governments refused to allow a ship with 629 rescued migrants dock at their ports. The Spanish government offered the port of Valencia for the boat, but the incident reveals once again the international failure to recognize the human rights of people on the move.
