Georgian pianist Khatia Buniatishvili

Pianist Khatia Buniatishvili, born in Tbilisi, Georgia, is currently on a world tour and has just given several concerts in Spain. One of those concerts was in Madrid, where the acclaimed young pianist performed four piano sonatas by Beethoven ahead of next year's 250th anniversary of the German composer's birth. The performance was a resounding success, no surprise when one considers that as much as seven years ago critics were already heaping praise on this talented musician and referring to her as "one of today's most exciting and technically gifted young pianists."
