La retroalimentación que se produjo entre las escenas británica y estadounidense ha sido algo inherente a la evolución del rocknroll. El power pop se originó en EEUU con una gran influencia de la música británica de los 60. En la escena inglesa de la segunda mitad de los 70 surgieron interesantes grupos de power pop, pero la mezcla de influencias llevó a la creación de diferentes etiquetas cuyas fronteras a veces se borran por completo. Sobrevolamos ese territorio de la música británica que conecta el power pop con la new wave, colindando en ocasiones con el punk rock, el punk pop o el revival mod.
