En los albores de los años 80 y desde el condado de Kent, al Este de Inglaterra, aparecieron The Prisoners. Los etiquetaron como revival mod, garage o psicodelia, pero realmente trascendieron a las etiquetas y tan solo fueron un grupo de poderosas y adictivas canciones. Entre 1982 y 1986 Graham Day (voz, guitarra y principal compositor), James Taylor (teclados), Allan Crockford (bajo) y Johnny Symons (batería) editaron cuatro álbumes de estudio y un puñado de singles. Nunca consiguieron el gran éxito, un reconocimiento comercial inversamente proporcional a su talento y la influencia que tuvieron en otras bandas de su tiempo y de generaciones posteriores.
