A comienzos de 1966 y desde el sur de California empezó a extenderse una luminosa forma musical que fue conocida como sunshine pop. Curt Boettcher y otros arquitectos del estilo se inspiraron en las influencias de The Turtles, The Beach Boys o The 5th Dimension para moldear canciones que bebían del folk y la psicodelia, usaban ricas armonías vocales y arreglos orquestados, y de las que emanaba una nostalgia agradable y una soleada luminosidad.
