Javier García Vicente is a Spanish guitarist with an adventurous spirit. And it was in the spirit of adventure that he left Spain several decades ago for England, where he eventually found himself playing bass for iconic British singer/actress Dana Gillespie. After his stint with Gillespie--with whom he recorded four studio and four live albums--Javier moved to Holland, where he still lives today. There, among other projects and with the help of half a dozen "friends-in-music," he recorded his debut solo album, "Troubagroove," which was followed a few years later by "Tales of a Solitary Tree." In today's program we listen to a number of tracks from "Troubagroove," a delightful and very personal album that might be described as a happy mixture inspired by Javier's native Spain, Brazilian popular music, and Cuba's Nueva Trova, with a healthy dose of blues thrown in for good measure.
