Panorama: Syria

Today's program focuses on news out of Syria and the related crisis at the Greek-Turkish border where some 10 thousand refugees are reported to be stuck in a no-man's zone. In Syria's northwestern province of Idlib, the cease-fire accorded by the Russians and Turks last week appears to be holding. Still to be coordinated by the two forces are the safe corridor north and south of the M4 highway and the joint patrol in the so-called "demilitarized zone". That área, defined in previous accords, is precisely where the latest attacks have taken place. Regular Turkish troops imbedded with the Islamist militants are fighting Syrian government forces backed by Russian air strikes.
