Today's program focuses on Spanish news. New outbreaks of Covid19 in spots throughout the country have led local leaders to take measures to contain any possible contagion well after the national lockdown was lifted. Hotspots in the northern coast of Galicia and in Lleida, Catalonia have seen travel restrictions and confinements imposed, in the first case, for five days, and in the second for at least two weeks. The coalition government meanwhile is preparing for the EU Summit later this month, when Spain and other countries hard hit by the pandemic will be negotiating for the best possible financial assistance. While the opposition Popular Party has refused to give the government support of any kind so far, the trade unión and business association leaders have backed the Prime Minister's efforts to show a solid and united Spain to Brussels.
