Today's program begins with the news, from Minsk to Kenosha, Caracas to Madrid. In Belarus the protests against President Lukashenko, accused of rigging the August 9 elections that gave him 80 percent of the vote for a sixth term in office, continue. So too, do the protests in the United States against police brutality and targeting of black people, in the wake of still more shootings of unarmed black men by police. Over the past week however, three people were killed during the demonstrations in civilian against civilian fire, as a white supremicist backlash is being seen attempting to counter the protests in violence. In Venezuela, dozens of imprisoned politicians and political prisoners were released as part of President Maduro's amnesty in order to allow them to run in the December parliamentary elections. And in Spain, the economic forecast looks bleak for families and workers, after two lost tourist seasons and the worst recession since the 1930's. In the second half of the program, we listen to Spanish violinist Pablo Martos who performed live on the RNE program "Entre dos luces", and we close with a recording of Martos and pianist Calio Alonso performing the Danse Orientale from Rimsky Korsakov's Sheherazade.
