Miguel de Molina: art and transgression La Copla

As Madrid celebrates LGTBIQ Pride this week, this year of the pandemic without the customary crowds and parades, today's program is dedicated to an original and gifted Spanish artist and performer, Miguel de Molina. La Copla, Andalusia's popular song, the queen of the variety shows and theatrical productions throughout the country, concentrated the multi-talents of lyricists, composers, designers and performers. During the Second Republic, from 1931 to the end of the Civil War, Miguel de Molina's open homosexuality and artistic sophistication delighted audiences. With the Franco regime, Miguel de Molina became a threat to morality.
