Today's program is dedicated to the health care personnel in Spain, doctors, nurses, technicians, custodians, residents and others who saw this country through the worst health crisis it has seen in over a century. And it's not over yet. The labor conditions of Spain's medical professionals leave much to be desired: while the public health care system is the pride of the nation, it is still subjected to spending cuts and privatizations that undermine its foundations. For decades now, young and well prepared Spanish profesionals, in medicine and the sciences, have had to leave the country to seek work elsewhere, creating a "brain drain" the effects of which are already being felt.
The program ends with the guitar music of Francisco Tárrega, the Gran Jota, which has been heard these days at the Granada International Festival of Guitar.
