Alison Hughes talks to Sarah Shenker, of the London office of Survival International, an NGO working for tribal people's rights worldwide. Sarah Shenker explained the situation of the Guaraní Kaiowa tribe in Mato Grosso do Sul, in Brazil, where a group has recently won its battle to remain on ancestral lands, but only after expressing its willingness to die there rather than leave. While the Brazilian constitution protects the Guaraní peoples' rights, the slow process of the demarcation of tribal lands and the growing violence by farmers and ranchers unwilling to return lands to the Indians are putting the Guaraní Kaiowa in severe danger (01/11/12).
