Frank Smith and Alison Hughes talk to two men deeply involved in the Middle East question: Raji Sorani, the director of the Gaza-based Palestine Centre for Human Rights, and Uri Davis, an academic and human rights activist who defines himself as a Jewish Palestinian. Uri Davis is an Israeli citizen married to a Palestinian who was at one time a member of the Palestine National Council. He has written many books about the Middle East, including Citizenship and the State in the Middle East, published by Syracuse in 2000, and Apartheid Israel, Possibilities for the Struggle Within, published in 2004. The two men are in Madrid to commemorate the Nakba, or "catastrophe", when hundreds of thousands of Palestinians were displaced from their homes when Israel declared its statehood in 1948. It's an anniversary that Palestinians mark wherever they may be in the world, from the Occupied Territories to the capital of Spain (17/05/12).
