We begin today's program with a quick look at some of the news highlights. Then we talk about the recent Goya awards given by the Spanish Film Academy, in which Pedro Almodóvar's "Dolor y gloria" (pain and glory) was the big winner and former child star Marisol--Pepa Flores--received an honorary career award. Our programa also features music: besides a popular song by Marisol we hear "Aires gitanos" (gypsy airs), by Spanish violin virtuoso and composer Pablo Sarasate, and the last movement from the "Symphonie espagnole," written by French composer Èdouard Lalo for Sarasate in 1874 and premiered by the great virtuoso the following year. The violinist in both the recordings featured in today's program is Leticia Moreno, accompanied first by Plamena Mangova at the piano and then by Spain's National Youth Orchestra (Joven Orquesta Nacional de España, or JONDE), conducted by José Luis Temes.
