The International Art Exhibition - La Biennale di Venezia, or the Venice Biennale, is one of the most prestigious cultural institutions in the world. Established in 1895, it invites an attendance today of over 300,000 visitors. Since 1937 the British Council has been responsible for managing the British Pavilion at the Biennale, selecting the artist whose work will be shown there, and for organizing their exhibition. For the 56th Edition of the Art Biennale, the UK’s selected artist is Sarah Lucas, who presents a major solo show in the British Pavilion running from May to November 2015.
