The Edinburgh Festival Fringe takes place every August over three weeks in Scotland’s capital city. Some 50,000 performances of over 3300 shows in more than 300 venues, make this the largest Arts festival in the world.  The Fringe dates back to 1947, when eight theatre groups turned up uninvited to perform at the (then newly formed) Edinburgh International Festival. Not being part of the official programme of the International Festival didn’t stop these performers – they just went ahead and staged their shows on the ‘Fringe of the Festival’ anyway.  The programme includes dance, circus, cabaret, children's shows, musicals, opera, music, spoken word, exhibitions and, of course, theatre and comedy.  The festival attracts both big names in the world of entertainment and unknown artists looking to build their careers.  In today’s programme we speak to just such a group of emerging artists, No Mean Feet, in order to find out everything you need to know about taking a show to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe
