We read e-mails sent in from around the world in our weekly program dedicated to you, our listeners. This week we hear from listeners in the U.S. state of Massachusetts, the Russian capital, Moscow, and Bangladesh. And this week there is music in the air... Almost every week during the concert season, from mid-October to mid-May, the Spanish Radio and Television Orchestra and Choir (OCRTVE) gives two concerts at the Teatro Monumental, situated in central Madrid at the Plaza de Antón Martín. The performances are Thursday and Friday evening at 8 P.M.--18 hours UTC (winter) or 19 hours UTC (summer). This week's concert is a performance of the St Matthew Passion by Johann Sebastian Bach, under the baton of the OCRTVE's current conductor, Carlos Kalmar. The Friday performances are broadcast live on Radio Clásica, the domestic classical station of Spanish National Radio (RNE), and may also be listened to live on the RNE website: www.rne.es This week's "Listeners Club" ends with a 2007 live recording of the St Matthew Passion, with German maestro Helmuth Rilling conducting the Spanish Radio and Television Orchestra and Choir, and with principal singers Sibylla Rubens, soprano, Anke Vondung, contralto, Lothar Odinius, tenor, Philip Carmichael, baritone, and Markus Marquardt, bass (26/02/13).
