Catalan National Day: La Diada 2017

September 11th is La Diada and over the past five years has been a measure of Catalan support for the region's Independence movement. This year it was also viewed as a potential measure of voter turn out in what may or may not be Cataluña's referéndum on self-determination, scheduled for October 1st. As usual, the central Spanish government has said it would oppose the poll in any way it can, and will hold any public oficial liable for his or her participation in the organization of the vote. But Catalan officials do not appear to be afraid.
