El Arte Flamenco: a series

Declared a "Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity" by UNESCO, flamenco is one of Spain's unique contributions to world culture.  Over the next few months, once a week, we will be playing the multiple forms of its song (cante), dance (baile) and guitar (toque), exploring its history and evolution and paying tribute to the artists who have created and developed this extraordinary expression of human experience.  Today, as an introduction, we begin to remember.
