Anna Moreno & the Moratalaz Happening(s)

Catalan artista Anna Moreno tells Justin Coe about the reenactment she organized this past June of a happening that took place in the summer of 1970 in the Madrid barrio of Moratalaz.  In Franco's Spain such an event--with hippie garb and spirit and live blues music by American bluesman Taj Mahal--was not at all acceptable, and as soon as they got wind of it the authorities sent in the police and closed the happening down.  There is almost no documentation of the event's occurrence, but many people from Moratalaz witnessed both the 1970 happening and this past summer's reenactment.  Anna Moreno is from Barcelona but lives and works in The Hague.  Her attractive website can be visited at:  www.annamoreno.net .
