Justin Coe talks to Texas-born soulman David Hooper and sound engineer (and now "record label exec.") Génesis Candela about "It's My Turn," the new album on the fledgling label Tucxone Records ( tucxone-records.com ). David has been living in Spain for a decade and a half and is happily married and father to a little girl. He lives in Murcia, not in Madrid, as Justin mistakenly thinks during the interview, during which we hear several songs from the new album, including the title track. Before immersing ourselves in the soul singing of David Hooper, we hear a blues recorded and released by Tucxone Records, with talented blues band The Downtown Alligators--who are from Madrid--performing one of their original tunes, "Sweet Soul Brother."
