English language broadcast - 18/03/15

 Our respected and beloved colleague at RNE, Juan Claudio Cifuentes, "Cifu" died this week. He was 74.  Cifu had been recording his spring jazz programs for Radio Clásica and Radio 3 just last week.  He'd always said he wanted to go out with his boots on.  Having grown up in France, Cifu arrived in Spain in 1961 determined to share his passion for jazz, and his encyclopedic knowledge of its performers, styles and history, with a Spanish public that knew little about this music.  It had been forbidden here in the 1940's.   In honor of his memory, today and tomorrow we broadcast interviews with Cifu from 2011.
