After the newscast comes "Listeners Club," our spot dedicated to you, our listeners. This week we hear from listeners in Denmark and Sweden, we talk about some of the art masterpieces that can be seen in Madrid's splendid (really!) art museums, and we hear music by The Rolling Stones, as presented earlier this week on RNE's Radio 3 by our colleague Juan de Pablos, and by Nina Simone. What music? Well, "Before They Make Me Run," in the case of The Stones (with Keith Richards on lead vocals), from their 1978 album "Some Girls," and (of course) the classic "My Baby Just Cares For Me," in the case of Nina Simone. Now...that was not the most flowing and eloquent of sentences ever to have been produced in the Ënglish language, but...we do what we can! And another thing we do this week is to remember our colleagues at ERT, the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation, Greece's state-owned public broadcaster, whose surprise closure was announced yesterday by the Greek government. The move may save money, but the ultimate cost could be democracy itself.
