El 38º Euroradio Folk Festival de 2017 se celebró en la ciudad checa de Çesky Krumlov, organizado por la Çesky Rohzlas o Radio Nacional de la República Checa. Este evento, itinerante, lo acoge cada año una emisora pública europea. En 2017 se celebró entre el 19 y el 22 de julio. Cada emisora pública europea envía un representante. En total fueron 21 conciertos de los que en una primera tanda vamos a oír diez, y vamos por el séptimo.

Hans and Rasmus Kjorstad - fiddles

The brothers Hans and Rasmus Kjorstad come from South Fron in Gudbrandsdalen. They are already prominent fiddlers of the young Norwegian folk music generation. Although possessing fairly different musical backgrounds, as a duo they share a common ideal of making groovy, unpolished and wonderful folk music. They make good use of traditional repertory from mid-Gudbrandsdalen, including listening tunes and well-established dance forms, all performed in a sparkling manner. The brothers have been playing traditional music from the Fron area since an early age, and have a great grip on the style. In addition, they add bass riffs, sonic grounds and melody lines that work both with and against the traditional tunes. Through improvisation and different instrumental techniques, they aim to add several facets to established folk music – opening it up to a new audience.
Since the release of their debut album Pusinshi Ulla in October 2016, they have played all over Norway and received great reviews. Now playing major folk music clubs and festivals as a duo and together with top-class artists such as Anders Røine, Hans Hulbækmo and Torgeir Vassvik, the brothers are an important act to catch on the evolving Norwegian folk music scene.
